Madalyn Roumpos

STEM ON WHEELS INSTRUCTOR

Madalyn Roumpos brings 15 years of experience as a teacher within the St. Louis Public Schools, where she has dedicated herself to fostering curiosity and a passion for learning among her students. Holding a master’s degree in STEM Education, Madalyn has extensive expertise in developing and delivering engaging STEM curricula that inspire students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in meaningful ways.

Madalyn’s specialty lies in teaching children ages 5 through 10 coding and gaming. Through her innovative instruction, she empowers young learners to design, create, and enjoy the games they build. This hands-on approach to learning encourages creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, all while making STEM education accessible and enjoyable for children. By guiding students in coding and game design, Madalyn not only equips them with essential technical skills but also helps foster a lifelong love of learning in STEM fields.

Her role as an instructor for STEM on WHEELS is instrumental in delivering high-quality, interactive STEM education to underserved communities. She is committed to shaping the future generation of innovators, giving them the tools and confidence they need to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world. Debra Holmes

STEM ON WHEELS INSTRUCTOR

Debra Holmes brings over three decades of experience as an Airways Transportation System Specialist with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Throughout her career, she developed extensive expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting critical systems within the National Airspace System (NAS). From 1988 to 2021, Debra worked at various FAA facilities, ensuring the reliability of air-to-ground communications and managing preventive and corrective maintenance for essential equipment. She was also responsible for training employees on advanced technologies, such as the Transcribed Weather Broadcast System and Digital Voice Recording Systems. Debra served at both the St. Louis Automated Flight Service Station and the Spirit of St. Louis Air Traffic Control Tower, where she handled integrated communication systems and technical operations. A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Debra grew up in an underserved community in St. Louis. Now, she serves as an instructor for STEM on WHEELS, where she shares her vast experience to inspire the next generation of innovators, especially from underserved communities, to pursue STEM careers.

Dr. Titus Irving

STEM ON WHEELS INSTRUCTOR/COMMUNITY MENTOR

Dr. TD Irving is a highly respected expert in LED technology and a valued contributor to STEM on WHEELS. With extensive experience as a professional LED light builder, Dr. Irving brings both practical knowledge and deep scientific understanding to his work. At a recent STEM on WHEELS workshop, he captivated participants with an engaging presentation on the commercial use of LEDs, breaking down complex concepts into accessible lessons that left students inspired and eager to explore the field further. His passion for STEM education and dedication to empowering underserved communities is evident in the way he connects with students, showing them the exciting possibilities in STEM.

Beyond his technical expertise, Dr. Irving is a dedicated community leader and mentor in the Walnut Park neighborhood. As a pastor, he plays a critical role in supporting and mentoring local residents, especially youth, by helping them build personal growth, resilience, and community involvement. His leadership is marked by a strong commitment to community well-being, consistently contributing to neighborhood projects, mentoring programs, and other community-driven initiatives.

Dr. Irving’s ability to uplift others and foster a sense of togetherness in the neighborhood makes him a powerful mentor. Through his dual roles as a STEM educator and a community mentor, Dr. Irving is not only helping to shape the next generation of STEM leaders but also contributing to the growth and positive development of the Walnut Park neighborhood. His dedication to the mission of STEM on WHEELS is making a lasting impact on both the community and the youth who benefit from his guidance.

James Turner Sr.

Project Manager/STEM Instructor

James O. Turner is an experienced FAA Manager with over 40 years in the aviation industry, currently serving as the STEM Project Manager and Instructor for STEM on WHEELS. With 35 years as an Airway Transportation System Specialist, James has mastered critical systems such as STARS, TCWS, and TADS, which he applies to design impactful STEM education programs for underserved communities.

James has demonstrated leadership throughout his career, managing workforce administration, budget allocation, and project execution at the FAA. He has also taught the FAA's STARS System at the FAA Academy Mike Moroney Aeronautical Center and served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In his role as a STEM educator, James is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of innovators. His extensive technical background and experience as a Subject Matter Expert and Trainer allow him to deliver engaging, real-world STEM lessons that prepare students for future careers. His commitment to STEM education is vital to the mission of STEM on WHEELS.
